A 29-year-old woman police had been searching for over her alleged involvement in several human trafficking-related incidents in Markham has turned herself in.

In a release issued earlier this week, police announced that an investigation was launched Friday after a female victim came forward to police with information about a “suspected pimp.”

As a result of the subsequent investigation, police identified a woman wanted in contention with human trafficking offences.

Details were not provided by police on the number or nature of the incidents. Information on when the alleged incidents took place was also not provided by investigators.

In an update Thursday, police said that the suspect had contacted police in Richmond Hill yesterday.

“York Regional Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance which led to the accused turning herself in,” York Regional Police said.

Pardis Senoubari Abedini, of Markham, faces a number of charges including trafficking in persons, four counts of uttering threats, and exercising control over a prostitute.

She is scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on June 8.
