OTTAWA — Canada expects that talks with the United States on trade will resume “at some point,” Prime Minister Mark Carney told a business audience in Toronto on Friday, but did not give details.

U.S. President Donald Trump last month suspended the talks over an anti-tariff advertisement issued by Ontario’s provincial government. Canada wants a deal to lower import tariffs on steel, aluminum and autos imposed by Trump.
