HAVANA - The United Nations is in talks with the United States on easing an oil blockade on Cuba to allow in fuel for humanitarian purposes, the UN’s co-ordinator in Cuba told AFP on Monday.

Francisco Pichon told AFP that UN officials have had “exchanges” with U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration “in order to guarantee access to fuel” for the UN’s humanitarian work in Cuba, and that of partner NGOs and centres that care for Cuba’s most vulnerable citizens.
