Two novice drivers have been charged with stunt driving after they were caught travelling 137 km/h in a 50-km/h zone, Niagara Regional Police say.

The teens were stopped while police were doing radar enforcement on Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls on Sunday night.

Police said an 18-year-old man was driving a Honda car, while a 16-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a Ford sport utility vehicle when they were clocked travelling almost 90 km/h over the speed limit.

Both drivers have a G2 licence, police said.

The drivers were charged with stunting and given a mandatory seven-day licence suspension.
