A man in his 40s is dead after a three-alarm fire broke out in a ninth-floor apartment on Carlton Street Tuesday evening, firefighters have confirmed.
Firefighters say they received the call for the fire at 84 Carlton St., an assisted-living facility, at around 9 p.m.
An initial report from the scene said that two people had died in the fire, but it was later corrected by Toronto EMS.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
