One suspect has been arrested in connection with the daylight shooting aboard a TTC bus earlier this week, police said on Friday

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the hip Monday just after 1 p.m. following an altercation that started on a bus was near Ashbury and Oakwood Avenues.

Richard Haynes, 27, has been arrested in connection with the shooting. He's facing eight charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Police are still looking for a second suspect, described as male, black, between 20 and 25 years of age, five-foot-six inches tall with a moustache.

Police credit their Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy team with helping make a prompt arrest.

The TAVIS team promoted cooperation and communication between members of the community and investigators.

Haynes appeared in court on Friday afternoon and is scheduled to reappear next Monday. The judge has imposed a publication ban on most of what was discussed in the courtroom today.
