A football field-sized perimeter was set up around York Region's Pacific Mall on Friday night following reports of a shooting in the building's basement.

According to early reports, the shots rang out at about 9 p.m., hitting at one person in the head. It is believed that person has been transported to hospital.

Police are looking for two suspects and spent the evening checking each car parked at the mall before their owners could leave.

The perimeter is being monitored by officers from Toronto as well as York Region due to the shopper centre's location on the corner of Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue, on the border of the two municipalities.

Police were also busy in North York on Friday night, where they spent the evening searching for suspects after an 18-year-old man was shot near Jane Street and Finch Avenue.

Police responded to a 911 call at 15 Tobermory Dr. at about 3:45 p.m. Friday. They say the shooting took place in one of the building's apartment units.

Two suspects were seen pulling away in a red car as police arrived at the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries that aren't considered life-threatening. He has undergone surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

No one else was hurt in the incident.
