The Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival Toronto will hold its annual parade Saturday resulting in a number of major road closures throughout the downtown core.

Motorists are being encouraged to avoid the closures, if possible, or to be patient and give themselves extra travel time if they drive near the affected routes.

Beginning at 1:30 a.m. Saturday Westbound lanes on Lakeshore Blvd will be shut down from Strachan Ave. to Parkside Dr and eastbound lanes will be shut down from Colborne Lodge Dr. to Strachan Ave. Lakeshore Blvd. is not expected to reopen until the conclusion of the parade around 5 p.m.

The parade will also be responsible for the closures of four Gardiner Expy. Ramps, beginning at 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The affected ramps will also be reopened following the parade:

• The eastbound exit to Jameson Ave.

• The Jameson Ave. entrance ramp to the eastbound Gardiner

• The British Columbia Dr. entrance ramp to the eastbound Gardiner

• The westbound Expressway exit to Dunn Ave.

In addition to the closures the parade will also result in restrictions on five other city streets:

• Dufferin St., south of King St. W.

• Dowling Ave., south of King St. W.

• Stadium Rd., south of Lake Shore Blvd. W.

• Queen's Quay W., west of Bathurst St.

• Springhurst Ave.

If necessary, vehicle access west of Bathurst St., on Fleet St. and Lake Shore Blvd. W., may close once the parking lots at Ontario Place and Exhibition Place reach capacity.
