Police are urging Parkdale residents to be vigilant following a blitz of attacks that has left one man dead.

Det. Sgt. Graham Gibson says police are investigating up to five attacks that are possibly related in the Parkdale area since Jan. 4

The latest attack man to be attacked, 62-year-old George Wass, died of his injuries Tuesday.

He was attacked while smoking a cigarette on the porch of a rooming house near Queen Street West and Jameson Avenue on Friday.

An autopsy revealed Wass died of blunt force trauma, police say.

Gibson says police are concerned about the situation and the community should be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Victims have been unable to give investigators detailed descriptions of the suspect who attacked them, Gibson says.

Police have reviewed surveillance camera footage from the area and found the suspect wears a balaclava and sometimes rides a bike.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS.
