Peel police are investigating their first homicide of 2012.

Jarvis Mascarenhas, 23, was stabbed in the parking lot of a plaza on Dundas Street near Hurontario Street at around 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

He was transported to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

According to police, Mascarenhas was involved in some sort of fight prior to being stabbed.

It is not known whether any arrests have been made in connection with the case.
