Oakville residents charged in $100,000 fraud

Two Oakville residents are facing numerous charges in connection with a benefits-related fraud investigation.

Halton police began an investigation after receiving a complaint that one of the accused was collecting disability benefits under a false identity.

At the same time, the man was also collecting a housing subsidy while leasing an apartment in Oakville.

The amount of the fraud exceeds $100,000, police said.

Stevens Boudreau, 56, faces charges including with fraud over $5,000, uttering forged documents and perjury.

Ula Boudreau, 51, faces two counts of fraud over $5,000 and perjury.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 16.

Burlington man facing assault charges

A 21-year-old man who fell from a sixth floor balcony in Bulington early Sunday morning is facing charges.

Halton police say the man, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the fall, was attending a party at a Warwick Ct. apartment when he assaulted the host.

The victim sustained a serious cut to his leg and required medical attention.

Lucas Mayhew is charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault.

Police have ruled out foul play as a possible factor in his fall.

Mayhew remains in hospital.

Two teens arrested following robbery

Toronto police have arrested two male teenagers in connection with a robbery.

According to police, a 20-year-old female was walking on Glenmount Avenue on Aug. 5 when she was approached from behind and grabbed.

After turning around to confront the suspects, the accused grabbed her purse and fled into a waiting vehicle.

A witness was able to provide police with the vehicle's license plate number.

The two 17-year-olds have each been charged with robbery.

They are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 19.

Suspect sought after guns seized

Toronto police are looking for at least one suspect after they seized several guns and other objects during a raid near Jane Street and Finch Avenue on Monday.

Plainclothes and uniform officers from 31 Division searched a utility room at a building on Dune Grass Way, finding four guns, a replica firearm, bulletproof vest, handcuffs and marijuana.

The four guns – a .44-calibre five-shot revolver, .22-calibre sawed-off rifle, .25-calibre semi-automatic pistol and a .22-calibre semi-automatic pistol – were loaded, police said.

No one has been arrested.
