Elderly pedestrian struck by vehicle

An elderly man has been transported to hospital with serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle Thursday night.

According to Toronto police, the man was attempting to cross the street in the Dixon Road and Carlingview Drive area when he was hit.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

Trapped man freed after trench collapse

UPDATE: A man trapped after a trench collapsed during construction work Thursday afternoon has been freed, Toronto police say.

According to police, the collapse occurred while work was being done in the basement at 200 Kingsview Blvd., in the Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road area.

Over two dozen fire fighters were on scene to dig the trapped man out.

Two men were initially trapped, but one had been freed earlier, police said.
