TORONTO - Police will use a helicopter Friday to search a north Toronto ravine for clues in the disappearance of missing teen Mariam Makhniashvili.
The search will centre on Earl Bales Park, which is about five kilometres north of where the 17-year-old was last seen 10 days ago.
Police say that Makhniashvili and her brother would frequently visit the park.
On Sept. 14, Makhniashvili and her brother were walking to their school but separated once they arrived.
The teen had told her brother that she would head to the front entrance of Forest Hill Collegiate because it was located closer to her first-period class.
Makhniashvili never made it to class and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
The school doesn't have security cameras.
Officers are hoping the ravine search will unearth new details about the girl's disappearance.
The police helicopter will be outfitted with infrared technology and search dogs may also be called in.
On Wednesday, police released images of the teen, which were taken at Union Station the day before she disappeared. The teen and her brother George volunteered with a YMCA program associated with dragon boat races that day.
They were dropped off at Union Station where the surveillance images were taken around 11:15 a.m.
YMCA officials said the two were part of a newcomer's youth group. Investigators and the girl's brother say nothing unusual happened at the dragon boat event.
Her parents have also said they don't believe Makhniashvili met someone during the outing that could have led to her disappearance.
