Toronto police are asking witnesses to the city's latest homicide to contact them to solve the slaying of a father of 10 children.

Clifenton Ford, 38, was gunned down at G's Chill and Grill Sports Bar, at 2528 Eglinton Ave. E., on Monday at about 2:25 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family and friends described Ford, the city's 17th homicide victim of 2011, as a man who worked hard to support his children.

"Clifenton was a great man. He was a great father, he was a great son, he was a great uncle," says his spouse, Ayisha Spencer. "He didn't deserve this and I hope anybody who knows anything could come forward and say something because now he's leaving all these kids."

Spencer and other loved ones gathered outside the sports bar later Monday to see the scene for themselves.

Dozens of people were inside the bar at the time of the shooting, but many of them fled the scene without being interviewed by police.

Anyone who attended the bar early Monday is asked to call homicide Det. Sgt. Wayne Banks at 416-808-7411. People with information about the incident are also asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.

No description of the suspect or suspects has been released.
