Toronto police suspect foul play in the disappearance of the owner of an upscale downtown Italian restaurant.

George Koutroubis -- the owner of the Six-Steps Restaurant on Colbourne Street near King and Church-- was last seen by his wife at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, when he left their Front Street condo for work.

Later that afternoon, he phoned a friend to say he was travelling to Whitby to meet with a client and has not been heard from since.

The newly-married 36-year-old was scheduled to travel to Florida with his wife on Friday. The restaurant owner took ownership of his business in 2007 and appeared on an episode of the popular reality show "Restaurant Makeover" in the show's third season.

He is described as white, five foot eleven and 230 pounds with brown eyes and short, black, receding hair. He was last seen driving a black, 2008 BMW X5 with Ontario licence plate BCSS 209.

Koutroubis' vehicle also remains missing. It is reportedly decorated with a Pittsburgh Steelers license plate border.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416−222−TIPS (8477).
