A prisoner suffered a minor injury when a corrections vehicle was involved in a crash on Eglinton Avenue near Bermondsey Road.

Toronto police said a prisoner transport wagon was carrying 10 prisoners when it collided with a second vehicle Wednesday, shortly before 8:15 a.m.

The injured prisoner was transported to hospital for treatment.

Police said emergency personnel had some difficulty accessing the prisoners in the back of the wagon because it sustained some damage.

There was never a risk of a prisoner escape, police said.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
