There were long delays for frustrated commuters on Friday night after a security threat on the Toronto Transit Commission.

Toronto police and TTC staff were forced to evacuate the Pape subway station shortly after 10 p.m.

Investigators won't say exactly what prompted the move, but hundreds of riders from Broadview to Woodbine stations were moved onto shuttle buses along the Bloor-Danforth line.

Officers conducted a thorough search of Pape station.

Riders were allowed back into the station just before 1 a.m. Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
