Motorists, don't be scared.

Some roads in Toronto's downtown area are closing Monday for the Church Street Halloween Festival, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The following closures will be in effect until Tuesday at 2:30 a.m.:

  • Church Street, between Gloucester and Alexander streets
  • A stretch of Wellesley Street on either side of Church Street
  • A partial closure on Wellesley between Yonge and Jarvis streets to allow for local traffic only.

The event is hosted by the Church Wellesley Village BIA.

Late-night subway closures

Meanwhile, sections of the TTC's Bloor-Danforth subway line will be hit by intermittent closures for several weeks because of track repairs.

During repairs that will last until November, a specific section of track will close each night at midnight for rail grinding.

Subway service will be replaced by frequent shuttle buses between stations and/or accessible bus service along the affected portion of the subway line, the TTC said.

During repairs, regular subway service will resume the following morning.

Here is the repair and closure schedule (dates subject to change due to any unforeseen events):

  • Oct. 30 to Nov. 2: Woodbine Station to Kennedy Station. All trains will turn back west at Woodbine Station. Shuttle bus service will be provided between Woodbine Station and Islington Station. Accessible bus service will be available between Broadview Station and Kennedy Station.
  • Nov. 3 and 4: Warden Station to Kennedy Station. All trains will turn back west at Warden Station. Shuttle bus service will be provided between Warden Station and Kennedy Station. An accessible bus service will be provided between Victoria Park Station and Kennedy Station.
  • Nov. 6 to 11: Warden Station to Kennedy Station. All trains will turn back west at Warden Station. Shuttle bus service will be provided between Warden Station and Kennedy Station. An accessible bus service will be provided between Victoria Park Station and Kennedy Station.
