TORONTO, Ont. - Roger Waters is kicking off his tour of "The Wall" in Toronto tonight.

The former Pink Floyd frontman will be performing the influential prog-rock record for the first time since 1990.

The double-disc concept album featured hits including "Comfortably Numb" and "Another Brick in the Wall."

Prior to this tour, the 1979 record has only been performed live 31 times -- by Pink Floyd in 1980 and 1981 and by Waters in 1990 to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The show promises a massive production.

Each concert will reportedly feature a 73-metre-wide and 11-metre-tall wall constructed and torn down during the shows, with other special effects also planned.

The album has been certified 23-times platinum in the U.S. and two-times diamond in Canada.

Waters will play three nights in Toronto. He also has dates scheduled at Ottawa's Scotiabank Place on Oct. 17, Montreal's Bell Centre on Oct. 19 and 20 and Vancouver's Rogers Arena on Dec. 10.

A European tour is scheduled to follow, wrapping on June 29, 2011.
