Sarah McLachlan is healing from a "pretty gross" breakup with her husband, the drummer in her band, through song.

McLachlan tells Billboard.com that she and Ashwin Sood have split after 11 years of marriage.

Two songs on her upcoming CD, "Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan," which comes out Oct. 7, deal with the breakup, "U Want Me 2" and "Don't Give Up on Us". "I'm separating from my husband, so these are the songs about that," McLachlan told Billboard.com.

"I wasn't planning on saying anything," McLachlan added, "but it's gonna come out at some point. I haven't said anything about it because I've been terrified to, but I figure ... there's no good time to say it, so I just said it."

The couple, who reside in Vancouver, have two daughters, six-year-old India and Taja Summer, 14 months.

This isn't the first time McLachlan has written about her relationship with Sood in her music. Her hit song "Adia" is McLachlan's apology to her best friend for becoming involved with her ex-partner, Sood.
