Move over, Santa: the Muppets are coming!

Known for their high-energy hijinx and big laughs, the loveable creatures from television and the silver screen will be special guests at this year's Santa Claus Parade.

Kermit the Frog, perhaps the best-known Muppet of them all, revealed the news as he served as a guest co-host on CP24 Breakfast with Steve Anthony and Melissa Grelo on Tuesday morning.

Kermit and the rest of his gang will ride on a float in the 107th annual parade Nov. 20. The parade will be shown live on CP24 that day.

Kermit had so much fun when he made the announcement he flailed about and fell out of his chair.

"I'm thrilled to be part of the Santa Claus Parade because it's such a fun, special thing," Kermit said afterwards.

Kermit's appearance was a big hit with CP24 viewers, as many went online to talk about it.

CP24 Breakfast's official Twitter feed, @CP24Breakfast, was trending in Canada during Kermit's visit.

New 'Muppets' film

Kermit is in town to promote his cast of characters' latest film, "The Muppets," which opens in theatres Nov. 23, three days after the Santa Claus Parade.

Starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams, it's the first Muppets film to be released in theatres in 12 years.
