The Special Investigation's Unit is looking into a serious crash on Albion Road at Highway 27 in Etobicoke.
The crash happened just before 3 a.m. when a vehicle travelling northbound on Westmore Drive turned left at Albion Road and slammed into several cars stopped at a red light.
Rescue crews used the jaws of life to free a nine-year-old girl from the burning wreckage. The girl is in hospital and she is expected to make a full recovery.
The SIU is at the scene. That unit is called in whenever police are involved in an incident where members of the public are badly hurt or killed.
