IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Josh Brent remains in custody on $500,000 bond a day after he was charged with intoxication manslaughter in what police say was a drunken-driving accident that killed teammate Jerry Brown.

Brent's attorney, George Milner, said Sunday the bond was excessive and beyond what the Cowboys had authorized him to post.

Irving police said the accident happened about 2:20 a.m. Saturday in the Dallas suburb, hours before Brent was to be on a team flight to Cincinnati for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

The 25-year-old Brown was found unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Bengals held a moment of silence before the national anthem. Most Cowboys bowed their heads, and quarterback Tony Romo and other players had their hands over their hearts.
