OTTAWA -- Ottawa Senators defenceman Erik Karlsson says he's not interested in talking to Matt Cooke.
Karlsson is out for the season after his Achilles was cut by Cooke's skate in a game last week against the Penguins.
The Senators blue-liner says he received a text from Cooke, but did not reply because he feels the two have nothing to say to each other.
Karlsson says he feels the injury could have been prevented.
According to Karlsson, Cooke "missed the hit and still got me somehow."
Karlsson says he'll likely start wearing protective Kevlar socks when he returns.
Karlsson has limited mobility and says he spends a lot of time with his foot elevated.
"One of the most important things with this is just waiting," he said.
The defending Norris Trophy winner expects to return 100 per cent and is even hopeful to rejoin the team if they go deep into the playoffs.
The Senators have had some bad luck with injuries recently. Veteran forward Jason Spezza is also out with a long-term back injury while goalie No. 1 Craig Anderson suffered a sprained ankle Thursday against the Rangers.
