TORONTO - The Toronto Argonauts signed veteran free-agent defensive back Jerald Brown on Friday.

The five-foot-11, 185-pound Brown spent the last seven seasons with the Montreal Alouettes. In 102 career regular-season games, Brown registered 279 tackles, 18 interceptions and seven fumble recoveries.

Brown was a CFL all-star in 2013 and helped Montreal win consecutive Grey Cup titles in 2009-'10.

"Jerald brings a veteran presence to the back end of our defence," Toronto head coach Scott Milanovich said in a statement. "Throughout his career he has been a student of the game, being recognized as an all-star and Grey Cup champion multiple times.

"We're excited to add his leadership and experience to our locker room."
