On the eve of another busy December there's shock and disappointment rippling through the Salvation Army.

CTV News has learned that the Salvation Army in Toronto is the victim of a massive theft, with up to $2 million in toys and food missing.

The police believe this massive theft is an inside job.

An internal audit found millions of dollars worth of toys gone, and now police have been called in.

A small group of management personnel work at the warehouse on Railside Drive alongside delivery personnel.

One of those managers was executive director David Rennie.

The Salvation Army has confirmed to CTV News that Rennie was suspended from his job in September following an internal investigation.

Rennie was fired yesterday.

It is important to note that no criminal charges have been laid. The investigation continues.

It's unclear at this point where those toys ended up.
