HAMILTON, Ont. -- Two Hamilton teenagers face arson charges in connection with a pair of fires in the city's west end.

Police say the first blaze began around 1:30 a.m. Sunday inside a barn area at a landscaping business on Wilson Street West.

Some 5 1/2 hours later police responded to a fire lit in a garage at a family home on Highway 52 Road South.

Police say there were no injuries, and that the family was alerted to the fire by their carbon monoxide detector.

Cameron Shoesmith, 19, and a 16-year-old Hamilton youth who cannot be identified are each charged with arson, arson endangering life and two break-and-enter offences.

They were scheduled to appear in court Monday for a bail hearing.
