Toronto is bracing for what could be the first major winter storm of the season.

A special weather statement from Environment Canada warns of the possibility of 15 to 20 centimetres of snow and howling winds this weekend.

The storm is expected to begin late Sunday over much of southern Ontario. It's not likely to let-up until late Monday.

Winds could be strong enough to blow down tree limbs covered in wet snow, which could lead to possible power outages.

Police say drivers should be careful, as conditions could become hazardous.
