It will be a special day for about 85 students who will be attending their fist day of class in Toronto's first Africentric Alternative School.
Some staff and students say they're very excited to be part of the new initiative.
Officials say students will learn the same standardized curriculum as children in the rest of the province, but there'll be an additional focus on African-Canadian history.
The program was created to battle the high dropout rate amongst black students.
