The TTC is hoping to lure more people out of their cars, as it proposes to cut wait times to 10 minutes or less on 21 bus routes, beginning in the fall of 2010.

The routes proposed include heavily used bus routes like the 39 Finch, the 29 Dufferin, the 53 and 60 Steeles, 84 Sheppard, 7 Bathurst, 24 Victoria Park and 45 Kipling.

The proposal also outlines improved service on the rest of the city's 118 bus routes, which would reduce wait times to every 20 minutes by 2012. The current time can be up to 30 minutes.

The TTC says it hopes to keep the buses moving with transit signal priority at more than 1,100 intersections.

Devices in buses would detect buses coming and would change traffic lights accordingly.

The TTC says it hopes this would add an extra 8 million trips a year.

The Transit City Bus Plan calls for an investment from the city of $77 million by 2014, as well as increase in operational expenses of $52 million by 2015.
