ST. CATHARINES - Niagara police are searching for whoever vandalized a nativity scene on the front lawn of city hall in St. Catharines.

Police say someone painted the faces of Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus red some time between 11 p.m. Monday and just before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

There was also a sign that read "Keep the State Separate From Religion" spray painted in red that was placed in front of the exhibit.

A sign with a similar statement was found in front of the nativity scene last week but was not reported.

Niagara Regional police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
