Two large water main breaks are causing trouble residents of the GTA.

A serious break covered a large swath of Brampton with water, in the area of Queen Street and Rutherford Road, on Wednesday night. A broken pipe is blamed for the flooding, which claimed the basements of two houses.

Another major water main break downtown stopped streetcars from entering or leaving Union station.

The tracks on Queens Quay were completely submerged near the entrance to the underground streetcar tunnel, leaving the TTC no choice but to replace the streetcar with shuttle buses.

Police also shut down Lake Shore Boulevard while city crews investigated.
