Spring-like temperatures will dominate Toronto’s forecast this week as the city starts to turn a corner on one of the snowiest winters on record.
Environment Canada is calling for sunshine on Monday and a high of 16 C, about eight degrees warmer than normal for this time of year.
Showers are on tap for Toronto on Tuesday but the temperature will hit double digits once again, rising to a high of 15 C.
Cloudy skies and a high of 9 C is expected on Wednesday.
The temperature is expected to drop below seasonal on Thursday, which will see rain and a high of just 2 C.
Temperatures will rebound for the long weekend.
Friday will see showers and a high of 10 C, while Saturday will be cloudy with a high of 9 C. More rain and a high of 10 C is expected on Sunday.
The mild weather comes after Toronto saw unusually high snowfall amounts this winter. At Pearson airport, about 190 centimetres of snow has fallen this winter, about 75 centimetres more than the average total snowfall at the airport over the course of a winter season.
