The scorching temperatures in Toronto today could set a new record today as the mercury rises to the high 30s.
Toronto will see a high of 37 C today, feeling closer to 45 with the humidity.

9 a.m.- GO trains running at slower speeds
Environment Canada says the heat warning impacts the speed of trains along the network.
“During prolonged periods of high heat, we are required to run trains at slower speeds. To ensure the safety of our customers and crew, slow orders are issued along the network,” Metrolinx said in an emailed statement.
“As a result, some trips may be cancelled or delayed on your line or arriving later than originally scheduled at their destination.”

8:05 a.m.- Tropical nights
Retired Environment Canada climatologist David Phillips said Toronto has seen more “tropical” nights so far this year than we typically see in a whole summer season.
“We get normally, in a year, we would get about nine or 10 what we call tropical nights where the temperature stays above 20 C,” he told Newstalk 1010.
“By the end of this week, we will have 11 or 12 of those.”

Hours at select outdoor pools in Toronto have been extended until 11:45 p.m. tonight
7:30 a.m.- Record set in 1995
The hottest July 14 on record came back in 1995, when the temperature rose to 36.8 C.
7 a.m.- Toronto air quality among worst in world
Toronto’s air quality has been ranked 32nd for worst in the world this morning, according to According to IQAir, which tracks global air quality data.
6:30 a.m.- Hazy day expected
CP24 Weather Specialist Jess Smith says Toronto will see not only hot and humid weather on Tuesday, wildfire smoke in the upper atmosphere will lead to hazy conditions.
“We are going to see sun but it is going to be quite hazy,” Smith said on Tuesday morning.
