A woman was talking on her cell phone when she was fatally struck and killed at Blue Jays Way and Front Street in the downtown core on Wednesday evening, police say.
The accident happened after 9:30 p.m. and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the 28-year-old woman walked right into the side of a five-tonne delivery truck, was knocked to the ground and then was driven over by the back wheels.
The driver remained at the scene and no charges have been laid. While police have notified the victim's next-of-kin, they're not releasing her name yet.
The area was blocked off and traffic was unable to get through the intersection as fans from a Toronto Raptors game at the ACC poured out on the streets at the time of the collision.
