A woman was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash between a car and a tractor-trailer early Thursday morning, York Regional Police say.

The woman was trapped in the car when the vehicles collided on Bloomington Road in Whitchurch-Stouffville shortly before 4 a.m.

Firefighters had to cut open the car's roof to free the woman from the vehicle.

Paramedics transported the woman to Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto. Her age hasn't been released.

Bloomington Road is closed between Kennedy Road and Warden Avenue to allow traffic collision analysts to conduct an investigation at the scene.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the collision reconstruction unit at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7704 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
