BURBANK, Calif. -- President Barack Obama has used an appearance on the "Tonight Show" to encourage voters to go to the polls and to condemn the remarks of a Republican Senate candidate about rape and pregnancy.
Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock said during a debate that when pregnancy results from rape then that is "something God intended." Obama said the remark didn't make any sense to him and such comments show why politicians, mostly male, should not make decisions about women's health care.
Obama also used the appearance to poke fun at Donald Trump. The real estate mogul has become a leading voice of the discredited conspiracy theory that Obama was born outside of the U.S.
Obama said his run-ins with Trump date back to their childhood days on the soccer fields of Kenya. Wisecracks aside, Obama told Leno that he has never actually met Trump.
The president also got in a dig at rival Mitt Romney. When asked if he favoured Detroit or San Francisco in the World Series, Obama said he didn't want to let Detroit go bankrupt and is now kind of partial to the Tigers.
