MONTREAL - Air Canada has suffered yet another labour setback as its flight attendants have rejected a tentative agreement reached this month.

The union representing the airline says 87 per cent of the roughly 6,800 flight attendants voted against the deal.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees says it will organize a strike vote next month.

CUPE spokesman Jeff Taylor says the results send a loud message to the airline and the union will meet with management as soon as possible on resuming talks.

Air Canada issued a terse release acknowledging the rejection, but offered little other immediate comment.

The airline has grappled with serious labour troubles this year with its customer service agents going on strike for three days.
