Michael Moore has never been one to shy away from the big issues, so perhaps it’s no surprise that the documentary filmmaker is setting his sights on Toronto’s well-documented gridlock for his next project.

Well, kind of.

Moore, who is in town promoting his latest film ‘Where to Invade Next,’ was asked by CTV News about what he thought of Toronto on Friday and jokingly offered to solve the city’s traffic woes as repayment for everything that Canada has given him.

“Fix the traffic. Seriously if I had like a year I would come here for a dollar – an American dollar not a Canadian dollar – and within a year I would get this traffic thing figured out,” Moore said outside the Ritz-Carlton hotel. “It would be a gift for everything that Canada has given me.”

Though Moore did seem confident in his ability to improve traffic flow in Toronto, the job may not be as easy as he seems to think.

Numerous studies have found that the city has among the longest commute times in North America and the Toronto Region Board of Trade estimates that gridlock costs Toronto about $6 billion each year.
