Toronto police have released security camera images of a suspect sought after two women were sexually assaulted inside their midtown home Monday morning.

Police say a man knocked at the door of the home located in the Avenue Road and Lawrence Park area claiming he was selling magazine subscriptions at around 10:20 a.m.

Once the door was open, he forced his way in, threatening the women with a knife, police say.

In a struggle that ensued, the suspect suffered a wound to the torso.

He fled the scene on foot after assaulting the victims.

At least one of the women was taken to hospital following the assault.

The victims are 25 and 30 years old.

Police remained at the scene Monday afternoon to collect evidence.

Police spokesperson Const. Tony Vella told CP24 that investigators are doing everything possible to find out who this man is.

"We have a responsibility to the public to tell what has occurred and we're trying to identify who this person is," he said. "If someone did come to your door trying to solicit something, please call the police. We need to know that information."

The suspect is described as a white male, between five-foot-10 and six-feet-tall with a medium build and short black hair. He is clean shaven and was wearing a black nylon jacket, black pants and a grey shirt. He was also seen carrying a white bag.
