A man in his 20s was shot while on a bus at the Scarborough Town Centre Monday afternoon, police have confirmed.

Police say the victim was shot once in the lower torso area and is now in stable condition.

The shooting occurred on the south side of the mall at a TTC bus stop, according to 43 Division police sources. 

A handgun was later recovered from a property on Lynbrook Drive. Police have not confirmed if the weapon was used in the shooting.

Police are searching for one male suspect last seen fleeing the area on foot.

No description of the suspect has been released.

Full train service has resumed at Scarborough Centre station and buses are now entering the station after being briefly closed for the police investigation Monday afternoon.
