A 64-year-old man who police said was pronounced dead in hospital following a collision in Scarborough Friday afternoon is currently in hospital with life-threatening injuries, police now say.
Earlier reports from police that the man had been pronounced dead were inaccurate, Toronto police now tell CP24, and were the result of a miscommunication between officers.
Police say the victim was without vital signs at hospital, but was revived.
Police say the collision, between a Pontiac Grand Prix and a Ford Escape, happened at Warden Avenue and Continental Place, just north of Ellesmere Road, shortly before 2 p.m.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The area has been shut down as investigators examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The closure is expected to last several hours.
