A man is dead after a motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Mississauga Saturday night.

Peel Regional Police Const. Fiona Thivierge said the collision occurred at the intersection of Cawthra Road and Tedwyn Drive sometime before 11:10 p.m. Saturday night.

The 31-year-old Mississauga man driving the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene, Thivierge said. The driver of the vehicle involved, a female, remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with police.

The intersection was closed for a police investigation but has since re-opened.

Thivierge said speed on the part of the motorcyclist was a factor in the collision.
