Canadian rapper k-os will perform at Bandshell Park tonight while the Trews take the stage tomorrow and Matthew Good headlines on Sunday.
  • The Beaches International Jazz Festival takes place along a 2.5 km stretch of Queen Street East between Woodbine Avenue and Beech Avenue. Participating bands and artists will play at a variety of locations between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. For a full scheduled follow this link.

NEWS:

  • Ford Fest will go ahead at Thomson Memorial Park in Scarborough tonight despite complaints being filed by more than 100 residents who say the annual barbecue amounts to little more than a glorified campaign event for Rob Ford. Three city park staff and three by-law enforcement officers will be on hand to keep an eye on the festivities.
  • Police Chief Bill Blair has until the end of the day to inform the Toronto Police Services Board whether he wishes to have his term extended. So far Blair has been mum on his future, repeatedly telling reporters that it’s a matter for him and the board to decide. If Blair expresses a desire to remain in charge of Canada’s largest police service, the board will have 30 days to vote on whether or not to extend his contract.
  • A teen girl believed to be the youngest to swim across Lake Ontario two years ago is now taking on an even bigger challenge: a marathon swim across Lake Erie. Annaleise Carr began the 75-kilometre trek at around 5:30 a.m. this morning at Presque Ile State Park in Erie, Penn.
