A group of Peel Region paramedics are being praised for their quick action after delivering a baby who was eager to make an entrance.

According to Peel Regional Paramedic Service, the pregnant mother called 911 at around 8:10 a.m. Sunday when she started going into labour.

Paramedics arrived and began transporting the woman to hospital. But they realized along the way that she was too far along to make it to hospital and called for another team to come assist them.

Working together, the teams successfully helped deliver the baby while stopped near Steeles Avenue and Kennedy Road.

The paramedic service took to Twitter Monday to post a picture of the beaming team with the newborn in hospital.

They said both the mom and the baby girl are doing well.
