A TTC bus driver has been disciplined after he was caught on a dashcam running a red light near Lake Shore Blvd. West and Superior Avenue, TTC spokesman Brad Ross says.

In a video posted to YouTube, the bus is seen blowing through the intersection while the traffic light is a solid red. An male pedestrian, who is seen crossing the street, quickens his pace to get out of the buses’ path.

“We received this video last week, have identified the operator, and taken appropriate disciplinary action, which I am not at liberty to disclose,” Ross told CP24 in an email.

Ross said the TTC and the public have “high expectations” of road safety and all of the transit service’s operators are “trained, professional drivers.”

“There is no reasonable explanation that would address such a blatant violation of the Highway Traffic Act,” Ross said. “As such, we took action immediately following an internal investigation.”

This is the second time in recent months that a TTC bus was caught on camera running a red light. A TTC driver was fired when they almost hit a pedestrian after running a red in Scarborough last summer.
