With warmer air on the way, Environment Canada has lifted an extreme cold warning previously issued for Toronto, Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area.

Just in time for the NBA All Star Weekend, a deep freeze descended on Toronto bringing with it new record low temperatures of -25.8 C at Pearson International Airport on Saturday and -24 C on Sunday.

On Saturday morning, the temperature felt closer to -40 with the wind chill and Sunday was only slightly warmer with wind chill values hovering around -30 in the early morning.

Torontonians can breathe a sigh of relief as seasonal temperatures return to Toronto on Family Day.

A high of 0 C is in the forecast for the city on Monday and there is a chance of flurries beginning around noon.
