A one-alarm blaze at an east-end car wash appears to have been deliberately set.

Firefighters were first called to the car wash on Danforth Avenue west of Woodbine Avenue shortly after 6 a.m.

According to Capt. Mike Strapko about 8 trucks and 30 firefighters responded to the scene and were able to knock the blaze down by about 6:15 a.m.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire, though a number of pets were evacuated from an animal hospital next door.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that three separate fires were set inside the car wash, Strapko said.

The office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified.
