Two women are expected to appear in a Brampton court today after they allegedly consumed a significant amount of alcohol aboard a Sunwing flight bound for Cuba, lit up a cigarette in a bathroom and then proceeded to get into a physical altercation with each other and make a threat against the aircraft.
The bizarre incident resulted in the plane returning to Toronto under fighter jet escort Wednesday night.
The women were arrested by Peel police when the plane landed at Pearson International Airport at around 8:30 p.m.
Lilia Ratmanski, 25, of Whitby, and Milana Muzikante, 26, of Vaughan, are charged with smoking on an aircraft, endangering the safety of an aircraft, mischief over, mischief endangering life and uttering threats.
