Fire crews remain on the scene of a “stubborn” fire at two Runnymede homes this morning.

The fire broke out at around 2 a.m. at a house at 544 Beresford Ave., located west of Runnymede Road and south of Dundas Street.

When crews arrived on scene, the back deck of the home was on fire.

The blaze was found in the upper floors and attic of both 544 Beresford Ave. and 546 Beresford Ave.

Due to the intensity of the fire, Toronto Fire Capt. David Eckerman said it took time to search and clear both units.

No injuries were reported.

As of 4:30 a.m., Eckerman said most of the fire was knocked down.

Crews are monitoring hotspots.

The fire closed Beresford Avenue between Annette Street and St. John’s Road. Annette Street was closed between Beresford Avenue and Runnymede Road.
